In July, 1898 a group of men banded together and agreed to form a fire department.  In August, 1898 these men adopted the constitution and by-laws of the Crowley Fire Department.

The Crowley Fire Department proudly protects the 15,000 citizens of Crowley.  The city is approximately 10 square miles and is protected by 3 fire stations.  We respond to fire, extrication, and EMS calls throughout the city.  The department utilizes both volunteer and career fire fighters with 19 volunteers and 28 career fire fighters serving the city.

The mission of the Crowley Fire Department is to provide an umbrella of protection to our community through aggressive delivery of safety education, fire prevention, disaster management, firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services by providing a highly trained and well equipped team of professional FIREFIGHTERS, EMTS, AND FIRST RESPONDERS.

Requirements For Volunteer Firefighter

All applications are screened by the investigating committee and voted on by the department.  Upon acceptance, you will be given a physical and drug screen (at city expense) to ensure your ability to perform duties required of you.

Requirements For Professional Firefighter

All applications will be processed and turned over to the civil service board.  An exam is given approximately once a year.

Work Schedule

The Crowley Fire Department has 3 shifts.  Each shift works a 24 hour day on a 21 day cycle.  The shifts are split into the following schedules:

Shifts begin at 6 pm nightly and are replaced at 6 pm the following night.

Each shift usually consists of 4 captains, 2 drivers, and 3 firefighters.
